Most often than not , while creating a project based on electronics , we forget the importance of taking into considerations the power requirements of the circuit.
Here , in this project , the Motors need a value of current which can not be supplied by the 'brain' of the robot. Hence , to drive the motors , we use a device called the driver. It is essentially a buffer which collects and supplies more curren to the motors than a simple oscillator could provide.
This is a very important learning , mostly because while designing the circuitry of the robots, we often forget about the current requirement of the motors or LEDs or other equipment that have large current requirements. By the end of the project ,we got a little insight on how to chose which drivers to use for the necessary current requirements .

We started out with glazed eyes and took a while to get adjusted so don't be alarmed if you don't get it right the first time. You needn't know the technicalities that go behind it but making an effort to understand will give you a better insight to it's working. In a nutshell we used an Op-Amp schmitt trigger inverter and a driver circuit to control it's output. And by momentarily shorting a part of the circuit we realized we could even rotate patterns (of high and low).
A cursory understanding of physics, some amateur carpentry and soldering is all you'll require. If you've baked cookies before, the instructions won't be a problem.
