It's 6:40 AM and the team hasn't slept all night. Gotta finish prototyping!

EM-18 breakout is pretty user-friendly. Wiegand format used. A decent library can be found at: https://github.com/monkeyboard/Wiegand-Protocol-Library-for-Arduino
Open source all the way!!

We have observed from our survey at a school for blind children that even partially blind people do not venture out alone in new places because they feel unsafe. However, they all have career aspirations which require them to travel around. That calls for a solution to ensure their security.

While doing this had Joe Cockers version of " With a little help from my friends" humming in my mind: Paraphrased below as sung by a visually impaired person
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song and I shall try not to sing out of tune
What do you do when your love is away
Nothing I can do No Way No way,
Do you believe in love at first sight,
I am certain it happens all the time ( but not for me, No never for me)
What do you feel at the end of day
I feel nothing and no memories for me
But I get by with a little help from my Friends in E toys
Ohh I get by with a liitle help from the Braille heat imager..

Amazing energy all around as we near our solutiosn. Our thermal sensing finally up. Like a grand Indian wedding things falling in place on the last day!

copper tape and cardboard works
We contemplated using the digital compass/ hall sensor/ acccelerometer with gyro..we've settled down with the accelerometer + magnetometer combo and we think we've found the right one for the job!
The design of the case should be aesthetically appeasing as well as compact. We plan to fit the tah and the accelerometer on the board inside the case and then fit the case on the paperband (used as a strap of the band).
A simple design can work better than a quirky one. The design should encapsulate the tah and the peripheral components without leaving much space than necessary. The dimensions of the case are made with consideration to the tolerances ( upper limit dimensions to be on the safer sides as it is planned ,as of now, to 3-D Print it)
I think this project is the "Braille for images"! Good luck guys with this project. It may change the world.
Sensors Across Scales
Great work MECH GUY ... looking forward to the 3D Printed prototype !!!
Well "CHHINU"--- i will need you again tomorrow morning for the tracing FOOT STEPS Back !!!
AND YA ...... "The DESIGNER / WRITER "---- Great Work --- WAITING for the Complete BOOK ... ya "BOOK "
Completed the first phase of Programming with DAMM GOOD ACCURACY !!!
Guys Looking for the REAL TIME RUN tomorrow !!! See you soon !!!
Looks like some Hope! 3D printed network should be done by tomorrow

Playscapes of the future should involve the following three elements:
1. Space - based
2. Object - based
3. People - based

Responsive and working good... :)
Initially we opted directly linking accelerometer sensor to raspberry pi.
Since not many resources were available we shifted to arduino lilypad.
We chose Raspberry Pi over Arduino to play music because of the resource constraints.
We didn't have arduino shield to play music.

Its a place for all interaction, firework and serendipity. We are team Benchy, hope to create an engaging experience for you guyz and identify patterns from your interactions.
We are creating games which map the physical movements to a digital game..
A teacher from the blind school came to visit today. She shared a lot of suggestions for our design. Come visit our workspace for the complete discussion.
Just finished real time analysis with a pretty gorgeous first prototype.

Saalo kaam karo!
The components used viz shift register ICs, Darlington pair sinking driver IC, are uncommon, hence availability in market is questionable. Any alternatives (commonly used) will be helpful.

Arduino +Bluetooth Module can do this job as well.
pressure sensor is giving different kind of reading when same amount of pressure is applied by different pearsons

Actually measured the coordinates of the FOOT (We want to trace....)...
We can literally see the coordinates changing with the module moving... in SERIAL PRINTER..
Pressure Counted Foot Steps for Us
A bit of Programming Needed but it can be used in this sense....
Our awesome team has made tons of progress with a digital compass and a force sensitive resistor....
I'm learning how to implement a Kalman Filter just in case we need to switch to an acceleration sensor after real time trials.
A blind person entering a mall(or any such crowded place) probably knows where to go in there..the problem actually lies in getting back safely.

Mike just offered to help 3d print our sole.... Love ya, Mike :)
Currently exploring a hall effect sensor to take inputs. Previous modules included a digital compas or a MEMS integrated accelerometer.
Someone just suggested using a potentiometer... and we'll try that out later
If they want to go to a party they can't dress up themselves.
What if thief cuts the zip along a horizontal line? Something to worry about!!
Solution: A solid/semi-solid sub-layer beneath the zipper is put. The layer helps conductive thread to be in contact and the circuit is complete. Getting an unauthorized access to the bag breaks the circuit(thread) and the alert thing gets activated. If authorized access then no alert. Solved.
The data transferred by the server to the mobile phone must be in vcf form itself or there must be some other manipulation in the app to conver it to a buisness card that is ready to be added to the phone book. A crazy trcick for such manipulation will be to play with HTML elements and this will save a hell lot of time in transferring the data
Synchronous Tools
A vital funcationality of the android app will be to directly add the contact to the phonebook.
On the basis of use of the device .. in short distance from the centre of handshake , the acceleration threshold may vary.
A PHP SQL based server is appropriate for the app to search on.. and it also provide the benefit of cross platform
The device need to be small and detachable so as to make it usable in different scenarios as on watch straps, cufflinks etc.
Seaching the relevent people I met today with and shook hands with can be cumbersome. Some tags type mechanism is required.!!!
Immersive Storytelling
It can be used as a Recreating Phonebook Experience.
A catchy option is to make the strap use and throw, as in case of EDM festivals etc.
The amount of data to be transferred between the two devices is contained and so an alternated solution is to assign unique uid to each device and instead transfer than id. This id goes to mobile app which searches it on the the and retrieves the data.
The hall sensors available are latch type. Used HMC5883 digital compass as magnetometer instead. Gives a decent 1 foot range!!
Tah is an open source BLE Arduino-compatible Development Board.
12 GPIO's make the work easy. Out of 12, 7 can be used as PWM. 6 analog inputs along with 12C and SPI. Input manipulation can be done as well from an external device. e.g smartphone
RFID module seems to be unavailable. Instead the user is going to wear a magnet and magnetometer on the bag will tell if it's the right user.
The breakout board seems to be 5V compatible but 3.3V is recommended. Short VIO and VDD and connect to 3.3V to use with arduino. Works without any logic conversion.
Resistance ~ 50 Ohm/meter
Base=200 cm
rest body= around 800 cm
total = 1000 cm
(Accelerometer.....huff)
