13/6 - Testing with IMU
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We tested our test bot using IMU and it was working perfectly.
12/6 - Searched for component
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We searched for component that could increase our logical voltage. But, it was useless to rely on new technology.
11/6 - ESC scrapped
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
After rigorously testing again, we scrapped our plan of using ESC as it was useful only for driving Brushless motors and used three-phase current.
10/6 - Trial of ESC
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We tried driving the motors through ESC but it was no use as we couldn't detect any voltage across its pins after connecting it to the ardupilot.
9/6 - Problem in driving motors
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We used Ardupilot and motor driver to test drive our test bot. But, the output signal pins were not giving sufficient voltage resulting in very slow movement of of the bot.
8/6 -
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We selected and finalised our few parts left and ordered them.
7/6 - Evaluation and clearing of doubts
added 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We cleared our various doubts in the evaluation.
6/6 - Chassis ready
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
We attached and corrected the front and back modules and attached them to the chassis. Hence our chassis was completed.
5/6 - Front and back modules
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
We made the front and the back modules of our chassis.
4/6 - Central part of chassis
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
We completed the central portion of the chassis.
3/6 - Laying base of chassis
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
Today we completed the base of the chassis.
2/6 - Rivets purchased
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
Today we went for shopping for rivets. We were looking forward to working with rivets, but the rivet gun available in the club was faulty and hence, our work got delayed by yet another day. We decided that we'll work in Tinkering lab the next day. We also tested our GPS module and found that it was quite accurate.
1/6 - Chassis manufacturing started
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
We started making our chassis using nuts and bolts. It took extra bit of effort from our side doing this and also due to some alignment errors, we were able to complete only a small part of the chassis.
31/5 - Tips from evaluation
added 3 months ago by Prasang Gupta
Today was our project evaluation. Due to the unavailability of rivets, we were suggested to make our chassis temporarily using nut and bolts and then rivet later. We were also given suggestions regarding our mechanical design.
30/5 - More parts received
added 3 months, 1 week ago by Prasang Gupta
More of our mechanical parts were received today. But, due to the unavailability of rivets, we couldn't resume our work. Also, the bill of Ardupilot wasn't cleared.
29/5 - Mechanical Work started
added 3 months, 1 week ago by Prasang Gupta
The bills of the mechanical parts ordered were cleared and hence the machanical work started as we cut the Aluminium tubes according to the dimension needed. There was no progress in electronics as the bill of Ardupilot wasn't cleared. Our further mechanical work was hampered by the non-availability of rivets.
28/5 - Delivery of Ardupilot
added 3 months, 1 week ago by Prasang Gupta
We received the Ardupilot today. Hence, we started researching on its connection and communication with Arduino, Mission Planner and its power requirements. We also contacted seniors for help. But, again due to the fact that the bills weren't verified due to the absence of the authorities, we couldn't either start our Mechanical Work or start using the Ardupilot.
27/5 - Shopping and Github repositories
added 3 months, 1 week ago by Prasang Gupta
We went for shopping to purchase Mechanical parts required for the construction of our part. Also, we found and studied Github repositories for PID implementation and Communication of Ardupilot, We also planned to start our Mechanical construction work, but due to the fact that the bills were not verified, we had to cancel our plan.
26/5 - Problems in learning
added 3 months, 1 week ago by Prasang Gupta
We faced many problems in reading about PID and Kalman filter. The codes were difficult to understand and quite lengthy. Hence, we started by reading about there applications and the theory behind the algorithms. On the other hand, our mechanical design was nearing completion.
25/5 - Researching Component Functionality
added 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
As almost all the components were fixed, we started studying about the various components. Also, we started learning how to implement PID and Kalman filter to filter out the errors in the movement of our bot. We also started looking for libraries of the components ordered to simulate them in software like Proteus.
24/5 - Ordering of major components
added 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We started finalising our components and ordered Ardupilot and Dampers. We also started making the mechanical model of our bot in Solidworks.
23/5 - Selecting Components
added 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Prasang Gupta
We broke down our work into 3 parts - Mechanical, Electronics and Programming. Then, according to our needs, we researched and selected the components that we would require. We had to take in account the respective individual qualities as well as the ease of integration with other spheres of work while selecting a component.
